What Kind of Diving Can You Find in Paros?

One of the strengths of diving around Paros and Antiparos is the variety of underwater environments.

Historic Wrecks

Wreck dives are conducted only in windless conditions.

Express Samina dives are conducted only in windless conditions. Certification, experience, recent diving activity and diver suitability must also be assessed.

The MS Express Samina is one of the most significant wreck dives in the area. The upper structure begins at approximately 18 metres, while the seabed reaches around 42 metres. Depending on certification and experience, typical dives concentrate mainly within the 25–35 metre range.

Its scale is immediately apparent underwater: the opened car deck, upright ramp and twin propellers make this a very different experience from a typical reef dive. Because the wreck has naturally deteriorated over time, Paros Elite conducts the dives externally without penetration.

The Manna Wreck, reaching a maximum depth of approximately 30 metres, offers another very different wreck profile. Much of its upper structure has disappeared over time, leaving the remaining hull exposed and allowing divers to understand its shape and scale without entering enclosed spaces.

Caverns

At Paderonisi Cavern, the dive begins in a sheltered bay before divers enter a broad underwater opening. Inside, it is possible to surface in a large natural air chamber, where stalactites and mineral formations appear above the waterline.

The experience combines geology, light and underwater exploration before the dive continues back into open water.

Walls and Deeper Diving

Divers looking for larger underwater topography can explore sites such as Paderonisi Wall and The Doors — Portes.

Paderonisi can accommodate very different profiles. Open Water divers can remain within recreational depths around 18 metres, while appropriately qualified Advanced and Deep divers can explore sections descending towards 40 metres.

This flexibility is one reason why the area works particularly well for groups containing divers with different levels of experience.

Reefs and Swim-Throughs

Not every memorable dive needs to be deep.

Sites such as The Gates, Silent Reef, Red Rock, Black Rock, Sunken Island, Blue Lagoon Reef and Tripiti offer changing rock formations, natural passages, multi-level reef profiles and very different underwater scenery.

Silent Reef is particularly distinctive: the submerged formation rises from more than 30 metres to only a few metres beneath the surface, with amphora fragments visible among the rocks and a natural gradual spiral ascent around the reef.

Is Paros Suitable for Beginner Divers?

Yes.

Someone does not need to arrive in Paros already certified to experience scuba diving.

At Paros Elite, participants first prepare their equipment, learn the fundamentals with an instructor, become comfortable breathing and moving in the water, practise a few simple skills in very shallow water and only then continue into a genuine guided dive.
